Born in Columbus, Indiana, in 1983, Brandon Boas is an amazing individual who brings a smile to everyone around him. Today, The Arc of Bartholomew County would like to highlight his wonderful story.

Since his parents got him his first little yellow Kodak camera, Brandon has been fascinated with them and how they work. Through sheer determination, he taught himself how to use a camera and then--with the support of friends and family--built a business doing what he loves.

In addition to everything else, Brandon also was born with Down Syndrome. Despite this, he doesn't let his disability or people's perception of his disability stop him. He comes out and does the work every single day, which is proof that you can do whatever you dream of, no matter what.

He is actively involved in The Arc's Self-Advocates of Tomorrow (SAT) group, where he helps advocate for better equality for people with disabilities. The Self-Advocates are lucky to have him. He is a pillar of their little community.

He started out with a film camera before moving on to digital. Brandon recommends starting with a film camera before transitioning to a digital one. While this is a different perspective than much of the commonly given advice, he stresses the importance of learning how the camera works. Once you know that, you can move on to learning the digital ones.

Brandon plans on buying a booth at one an antique malls where he can display and sell his photos. He is a regular participant in The Arc's annual Always Ready for Chocolate event, where his photography is some of the most popular items, so he is looking to utilize this demand in expanding his business.

He wants to pass on his knowledge of cameras and expertise to others. After 25 years of experience, Brandon feels ready to pass on his knowledge, and The Arc is certain he'd make a wonderful teacher. He is a veteran photographer and an expert at all things cameras.

He also hopes to find love with someone who also enjoys using cameras. He said he dreams of being a "married duo" of photographers doing events like weddings and baby showers.

No matter what, Brandon always finds a way to make everyone's day brighter. He'll have a joke, an interesting fact, or even a smile to make you feel better. The Arc of Bartholomew County has been proud to know and support him.
