2024 Legislative Session Policy Agenda
The Arc of Indiana has released their goals and agendas for the 2024 Indiana legislative session. They will be working hard to fight for the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“The 2024 legislative session provides many opportunities to advance initiatives that will lead to greater independence for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (IDD).
Following is an overview of The Arc of Indiana’s legislative priorities:
Establish new priorities for the Community Integration and Habilitation (CIH) Waiver as well as a pilot program for a Special Service Review Team to review requests for the CIH Waiver.
Establish legislation providing families of children receiving special education services with more protections and rights.
Update Indiana’s Seclusion and Restraint law.
Support legislation regarding Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy.
Support workforce legislation that leads to increased employment opportunities for people with disabilities, including reducing barriers such as a “benefit cliff.”
Monitor legislation updating access to services through the Education Scholarship Account program.
Monitor any changes made to ABLE Accounts and the ABLE tax credit.
Support legislation updating statutes to reflect Supported Decision Making.
Support licensure of music, developmental, art and dance therapies.
Monitor efforts for crisis intervention and prevention for the IDD community.
Monitor FSSA's prioritization of self-directed care in the development and implementation of risked-based managed care.”
