Whittney Gaines

Born in California but raised in Columbus, IN, I am a graduate of CEHS. I received my BS In Communication Studies and Criminal Law from Indiana State University in 2008, and I am set to begin my Graduate program in May, where I am seeking my Master’s in Special Education.

I have an extensive social work career, including employment with Turning Point DV Shelter, the Department of Child Services, and the Brighter Days homeless shelter.

I now teach Digital Communications at Central Middle School. I will begin teaching Special Education at Central this fall. When I am not teaching, I spend my time with my husband and 5 children—3 of whom have special needs—or advocating for inclusion and social justice with one of several community organizations I belong to.
